Dear Zohar:

We wish to offer you a position as Research Associate in the Stanford
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at an annual salary of $21,000 to
work on mathematical theory of computation.  This offer is subject to
final approval of the Stanford administration.  The starting date is
flexible and the appointment is for two years, with continuation
likely provided support funds continue as expected. 

If you accept, we will cover the costs of economy air travel for you
and your family in getting here, assuming that our ARPA sponsor
approves and with the proviso that you remain here at least one year. 

I hope that you will be able to rejoin us.

P.S.  We would like to offer you a Senior Research Associate or
adjunct professorial position and will endeavor to do so but, as
you probably know, there is a great deal of work involved in securing
such positions.  We would prefer to start that process only after
we are quite sure you are coming.
